Support from a Coach

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day;  Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”  This is why we offer coaching to everyone who applies for financial assistance.  Families 1st Partnership refers individuals in need to local and regional agencies who provide coaching services.  That coaching through a local agency has many benefits.  First of all it connects those in need with a local resource.  The coach will work with the participant to look at a budget, talk through some solutions, and make connections to other resources.  Requests for financial assistance come from the coach to Families 1st Partnership staff.

Education

Families 1st Partnership makes education opportunities available to all participants as they work out a plan with their coach.  The coach may recommend a financial awareness class such as “Your Money, Your Goals” or “Getting Ahead in a Just Getting’ By World.”  There is also a video life skills program available through Bright Course.  Coaches can send a participant short videos on topics of interest or need.  These videos are short (less than 24 min.) and contain useful information for planning for change in habits that may be causing stress and problems.
